Description: Chloroprene Cable Jackets offer outstanding resistance to Ozone & Sunlight. It has good resistance to mineral oils and aliphatic hydrocarbons.
Key Use(s): Gaskets, tubing, seals, O-rings, & hoses.
Temperature Range: Standard Compound: -31⁰F to +212⁰F. (Dry Heat Only). Lower Cost materials will reduce temperature ranges.
Hardness (Shore A): 20 to 95
Features: Neoprene is a polymer that provides moderate oil & gasoline resistance, very good resistance to ozone & sunlight, excellent adhesion to fabric & metals, good resistance to abrasion & flex cracking and very good resistance to alkalis & acids.
Limitations: The primary disadvantage of neoprene is its cost. Several other materials offer similar characteristics at a lower price. Neoprene also offers poor resistance to strong oxidising acids, esters, ketone and certain hydrocarbons. Other rubber materials deliver superior oil resistance.
Compounding: Polychloroprene is compounded for many different applications. Chloroprene rubber is many time compounded with other elastomers like SBR, NBR to offer more competitive pricing on finished goods. There are different compounds for different applications, and thus will offer a wide variety of performance in sealing.
